oscar wilde—company of thieves

this song is the single from the chicago-born indie band’s 2009 debut album ordinary riches. how you just gonna name a song after a poet though. and quote him in it. i love the very chill way they went about mashing the two creative mediums, poetry and music. company of thieves wasn’t even trying to write their own hook, haha. they just snatched up wilde’s words and gave them a melody. his quote reads “we are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.” so true.
